Church Planting in the

“Multiplying Healthy Churches Among All People”
-
EFCA Mission
Statement
How familiar are you with the EFCA Mission Statement? It
is pretty short and simple. And I think we would all agree that it is biblical. But is it becoming a reality?
Do we see it happening in our district?
In the last edition of the Pulse, I described that more
and more, “all people” are coming to us. That is why we have created an Ethnic Church Planting strategy. The
Ethnic Church Planting Team (Mike Harrison, Francisco Mendez, Jeff Noble, Tim Stairs, Erik Valenzuela, and
Chi Eng Yung) has identified the key issues that stand before us in making significant inroads to reaching
more peoples.
One of those key issues is the fact that many see the
need but do not know how to take the first step. Earlier this month I met an associate pastor on the Front
Range whose heart is sensitive to this need, knows that something must be done, but is unsure of where to
begin.
Thankfully, we can now resource those pastors and
churches who are burdened to do something. For most the first step is building relationships with ethnic
people in their own community. This will take work but we have many ideas to help facilitate this process.
[If you are curious or want to learn more about some simple steps you and your church can take, please email
me and let me know.]

We have been in a season of “developing” rather than beginning new plants.
However, I am excited to say that this season seems to be coming to a close. In July we have assessed three
possible planters. Here is a quote from one, “We have never part a part of something that we have so much
passion about that has so many unknowns (just little things like who we'll plant with, where, when,
etc).”
Pray for these couples as they discern God’s
leading and for me as well as I mentor them is this process.
